Acrylics and metallic leaf on canvas
A consistent further development of the floral works - a metallic background! In this work the artist uses one of her earlier stylistic devices, which you may be familiar with from the "Rheingold" series. She covered the background with thin metal leaf, in this case copper. This is a complex process in which a special adhesive is first applied and then wafer-thin metal sheets are applied close together and rubbed on, if possible without tearing them. The cracks, gaps and holes that can be seen have been created or left on purpose so as not to make the surface look too even, but to be broken a little to contribute to the overall composition. After it has completely dried out, the metal surface is coated again with a protective and special clear varnish so that the metal cannot oxidize. Paint can only be applied after the complete drying process. A painting of joy!
